Korea’s New Strategy towards ASEAN and the Experience of Industrialization
Recognizing the significance of collecting, sharing and disseminating information on the STI policy among the related stakeholders targeting the regional level, the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) initiates the establishment of the new platform called the Asia-Pacific Research and Training Network on STI Policy (ARTNET on STI Policy) with the support from the Science and Technology Policy Institute (STEPI), Republic of Korea.
The new platform of ARTNET on STI Policy will support research to design locally-relevant policies that can leverage science, technology and innovation as powerful engines for sustainable development in Asia-Pacific.
Along with the soft launch of this network, STEPI holds the joint side event called ‘Korea’s New Strategy towards ASEAN and the Experience of Industrialization’ which aims to share the Korean government’s "New Southern Policy" towards the ASEAN and the Korean experience of industrial development.
Through the two presentations by the Korean experts and discussion session at the end, this short joint event will provide an opportunity to share one of the major strategies and one of the STI areas with the past development experience of the Republic of Korea with the interested stakeholders. This will be a venue of developing and sharing the agendas and opinions of the participants.
This event is jointly organized by United Nations ESCAP and STEPI.
