First National Consultation on Synthesis of Environmental Performance Review and the Sustainability Outlook

Objective: Review the first drafts of EPR and SOM and initiate identification of integrated policy options and leverage points for mainstreaming the SDGs into national development planning and simultaneously support implementation of international MEAs in Mongolia.
Participants: government officials from the MoET, Ministry of Finance (MoF), National Development Agency (NDA), and other key government agencies. The national consultation process engages relevant government agencies, UN-organizations, academia, NGOs, business and other stakeholders to ensurecollective views and ownership of the assessment outcomes. The national consultations would also reflect on the ways to address the current commitments to internationally agreed goals from a wide spectrum of government sectoral stakeholders. About 50 participants.
Input: ToT materials and outcomes in two languages (bounded in a folder), results of RSEA, zero drafts of the RSEA, SOM chapters 1-3 and the EPR.
Expected outcome: Compiled views and inputs of national experts, stakeholders and peers to the first draft EPR and SOM provided and used for further work and the development of “Pathways document”
Consultation Methodologies: National Consultation will be an interactive workshop, utilizing the outputs of the previous ToT workshop, the draft EPR and SOM, in order to develop, in a participatory way, messages and contents of the “Pathways document” in relation achieving commitments of international MEAs and implementation of Agenda 2030. Participants will use systems thinking process and tools for identifying linkages and key high impact leverage points for policy intervention with support from impactful investment schemes.
