East Asia Summit (EAS) workshop on ‘Applications of Space Information Technology in Major Natural Disaster Monitoring and Assessment’

ESCAP sponsored participants to attend the EAS workshop which was held back to back with 2nd ASEAN workshop on ‘Development of mechanisms for acquisition and utilization of space-based information during emergency response’, 4-5 June 2015, Hangzhou, China.

The purpose of the EAS workshop was to share experiences between EAS member countries on applications of space-based information in monitoring and assessing major natural disasters. Furthermore, the workshop aimed to strengthen their capabilities and exchange information on the progress and advances made in applications of remote sensing technology for disaster risk reduction.
